We are proud to run a manufacturing process that goes hand in hand with a modern, sustainable, and eco-friendly approach. Our brand-new compostable bags for kitchen bio-waste are now officially in production, becoming an integral part of our product portfolio.
Bringing this product to life was a complex journey—spanning from selecting the right material supplier to rigorous trial runs, detailed analyses, and manufacturing process optimization. Thanks to the long-standing experience and expertise of our management and team, we are now producing premium Slovak compostable and sustainable bags for kitchen waste, which will hit store shelves very soon.
Sustainability Embedded in Our Values and Production
For us, sustainability is not just a buzzword on a website; it is a real, tangible product. In cooperation with the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV), we are actively developing innovative biodegradable materials. Together, we are working on a functional formula designed for large-scale industrial applications.

100% Green Energy: Our production operates entirely on electricity from 100% renewable sources, and we are currently expanding our solar panel infrastructure directly at Novplasty.

Eco-Design & Circularity: Our traditional production is 100% recyclable because we focus on monomaterials—meaning we use a single type of material, specifically polyethylene (LDPE).
Monomaterials are the ultimate gateway to efficient sorting and recycling, making it much easier to reintroduce recycled plastics into the manufacturing of new packaging. We heavily utilize PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) materials, turning consumer waste back into high-value products.
Uncompromising Quality and Certified Sustainability
Sustainability is one of our core pillars, and we continuously develop it in multiple directions. By leveraging our extensive industry know-how, we specialize in downgauging (reducing the thickness of our LDPE films).
Carbon Footprint Reduction: By optimizing our manufacturing, we use up to 20% less material, significantly lowering the packaging’s carbon footprint while fully preserving its functional properties, such as high tensile strength, elasticity, and puncture resistance.
To give our customers ultimate peace of mind, our new bio-waste bags are fully certified by the globally recognized authority TUV Austria, guaranteeing that they meet the strictest international standards for compostability.
The founder of Novplasty, Jakub Novák—our father and grandfather, who deeply loved nature and planted dozens of fruit trees around our factory—would undoubtedly be thrilled to see where we are today.
